Project W brings together over 4,700 water, sanitation, and hygiene datasets (and counting!) into a single, searchable platform. Instead of hunting across dozens of sources, you can search, filter, and find relevant data in minutes.

Every dataset includes a clear profile—what it covers, where it’s from, when it was collected, and how it can be used—so you can quickly decide if it’s right for your work.

Why we built Project W

Frequently, the data required for making informed decisions about water and sanitation services is already available, but it is often scattered, difficult to locate, or left unused. As a result, organizations waste time searching for information, duplicate efforts that have already been undertaken, or develop plans without having the complete picture.

Aquaya created Project W to address this gap. By making WASH data more accessible and usable, the platform supports stronger program design, more efficient resource allocation, and greater accountability across the sector.

Built through collaboration

Project W is the result of collaborations across multiple partners who have contributed to its design, development, and ongoing evolution. Recombine supported Project W’s website design and creation. Baobab Tech supported the platform’s update, including the integration of WASH AI. AquayaLEARN (Leading an Empowered African Research Network) fellows have supported the identification and editing of datasets.
