To provide data on female genital mutilation (FGM) prevalence among women and girls between 15-49 years in 17 countries.
The Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Dashboard contains key information on FGM prevalence and practice. With data generated from the latest household surveys (DHS and MICS), this tool supports analysis to further efforts of the UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting
Data contains: percentage of women and girls who underwent FGM before age five, women and girls, aged 15-49, who have undergone some form of FGM, percentage of women and girls who believe FGM should be discontinued, type of FGM i.e. nicked, no flesh removed, flesh partly removed and sewn closed and performer of FGM i.e. doctor, nurse/Midwife/Other health worker and traditional excisors.
