Dataset Objective

To map out groundwater monitoring sites for wetland in South Africa's inland and coastal areas.

Context

These sites are grouped into 10 regions with different colors for easier reference and comparison. The map helps in identifying groundwater monitoring coverage in wetland areas, and supports water resource planning and discussions between DWS and wetland managers.

What is included

Dataset contains: groundwater level monitoring active monitoring sites for springs, groundwater level monitoring active monitoring sites for boreholes, major dams, major rivers, major city/towns, international boundary, water management areas, coastal, estuarine, channeled valley-bottom wetland, depression wetland, floodplain wetland, seep wetland, unchanneled valley-bottom wetland, and wetland flat.

Collection Methods
