Dataset Objective

To assess the residence times of shallow groundwater in West Africa and the implications for hydrogeology and resilience to climate change.

Context

The UK Department for International Development funded this study. The data was collected from 57 sites found in Abeokuta, Minna, Gusau (Nigeria) and Bandigara and Bandigara (Mali).

What is included

The dataset contains the aquifers' storage capacity, rainfall zone, maximum rainfall, field chemistry, major and minor ions (ICP-MS and IC), nutrients (DOC), and tracers (Tritium, CFCs, SF6, ?18O, ?2H, ?13CDIC) collected from 57 sites in Nigeria and Mali in 2010.

Data was collected through sample analysis and remote sensing.
