To show the distribution of land cover, classification and area type in Indonesia.
The layer shows 2006 Land Cover, classified by type. The data is sourced from 2009 Ministry of Forestry data (1:250,000 scale). The World Resources Institute reclassified the original land cover categories from the Ministry of Forestry dataset for use in the Suitability Mapper (2012), into the following categories:
A fixed map shows the land cover classified as primary forest, secondary forests, wetland, grassland/shrub, plantations, agriculture, settlements/other land use and excluded.
Data was collected using satellite imagery and supplemented by the data from the Indonesia Ministry of Forestry data.
