To provide data on land cover/land use change for the catchments of Kelani Ganga and Attanagalu Oya.
The classification includes two thematic levels (national 7-class scheme and 15 land cover/land use classes according to user definitions).

Land cover/ land use classification: dense forest, open forest, forest plantation, rubber, coconut/palm tree dominated, mangroves, scrubland, grassland, tea, paddy, wetland, marsh, water, built up areas and bare area. National class scheme consist of: bare area, boggy area, built up area, cultivation, water area, forest area and other vegetation.
