The dataset was created to provide monthly average estimates of atmosphere surface temperatures, wind, humidity, pressure, and ocean and sea-ice state interpolated to a regular 0.5-degree grid.
The data was created as an improvement of the previous data collection version: Version 4 revision 4 (V4r4).
The dataset contains the global monthly averages of atmosphere surface temperatures, wind, humidity, pressure and ocean and sea-ice state estimates.
The data was collected using satellite imagery tools and remote sensing and other methods. The satellite tools used in collecting the data were satellite altimeters, satellite radiometers, satellite scatterometer, satellite gravimeter and bathythermographs.
