Dataset
To show the amount of sunlight that passes through the cloud to reach the earth surface.
Clouds help control the flow of light and heat around our world. Because there are so many clouds spread over such large areas of Earth, they are a very important part of our world's climate system. Clouds have the ability to cool our planet, or they can help to warm it.
Dataset contains the optical thickness of clouds all over earth. Dark blue shows areas where there are low cloud optical thickness values and white shows larger cloud optical thickness.
Data is based on the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instruments aboard NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites.
