To provide near surface meteorological variables used for land surface and hydrological models.
Data covers the period 1979 to 2019.
Main variables consist of: grid-point altitude, near-surface air temperature, near-surface specific humidity, surface downwelling shortwave radiation, surface downwelling longwave radiation, rainfall flux, snowfall flux, near-surface wind speed and surface air pressure. Reference datasets are CRU (Climate Research Unit) and CRU and GPCC (Climate Research Unit and Global Precipitation Climatology Centre).
Data is obtained from various meteorological weather stations and are derived from bias-corrected reanalysis.
