Dataset
This dataset was collected to assess how the different plant spacing patterns affect plant physiological and soil physical-chemical characteristics under maize legume intercropping systems.
Data was produced by the Alliance of Biodiversity and International Center for Tropical Agriculture (ABC) and distributed by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Another contributor was the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute, Babati District Council.
This data contains information on maize leaf chlorophyll measurements using SPAD and soil moisture and temperature reading using time-domain reflectometry, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) fraction intercepted by plant canopy under different plant spacing arrangements, yields of the various plant (maize, beans and pigeon pea) components (grain, stover, maize toppings, haulms, stalks and husks), soil nutrient content, daily soil physical conditions, the rate of water infiltrating under two suctions and daily weather data collected in three agro-ecological states of Babati during the 2019 long rain season.
