To measure the impact of COVID-19 on rural people (men and women) in Kenya.
This impact assessment was conducted as the first round led by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Other contributors were CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security (CCAFS) and the CGIAR Gender Platform. The research grant was provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This dataset contains the individuals' responses on their demographic characteristics (gender, age, marital status, name, education level, etc.), basic information about the household (the head of the family, primary male decision-maker, gender of the household head, people aged 60 years or older living in the household, total members in the home), toilet facilities available, the type of farming or livestock keeping, principal occupation, the primary source of drinking water for their household members, how COVID-19 changed the way they get their drinking water, sources of drinking water, duration to collect the water, loss of income, morbidity, assets, sickness, family conflicts, and other variables.
This dataset was collected using a sample survey conducted through telephone interviews and structured questionnaires. The unit of analysis was individuals and households. The samples were drawn from the rural households in Busia, Laikipia, and Nakuru counties.
