To provide global data on water availability, rainfed land, irrigated land and crop production in both lands.
The data entails scenarios that explore how altering where and how much of certain crops are grown can reduce blue water scarcity at the national level. (“Blue water” refers to withdrawal of surface and groundwater for irrigation, as opposed to “green water” which is rainfed soil moisture)
This dataset consists of: water availability, rainfed land, blue water footprint, irrigated land, crops used in various countries globally, irrigated land production, rainfed land production, rainfed land harvest area and irrigated land harvest area.
This data is sourced from various sites then optimized by a linear-optimization algorithm in MATLAB. Data is classified by country and crop type.
