To show boundaries and locations of totally protected areas in Sarawak and the proposed protected areas.
The data was collected as part to document all the protected areas in Sarawak and the proposed protected areas.
The dataset contains the names of protected areas, their categories (national park, national reserve, or wildlife sanctuary), the total area in hectares, the shape length, shape area, status of the protected area (gazetted or proposed) and the date gazetted (if gazetted).
The data was collected using both high and low-resolution Sarawak Forestry Department (SFD) maps, information from the website of the Sarawak Forestry Corporation and Sarawak Forestry Department Annual Report reports.
