Dataset
To provide estimates data on expected health spending in 204 countries and territories.
The dataset was created to offer a detailed forecast of global health spending trends, integrating historical data with future projections. It provides insights into how health financing may evolve in response to economic and demographic changes, which is crucial for long-term health planning and policy formulation.
Estimates cover total health spending, health spending disaggregated by source into three domestic financing source categories (government, out-of-pocket and prepaid private) and development assistance for health.
Retrospective health spending estimates for 1995-2018 were used to forecast GDP and health spending through 2050.
