To assist the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in country selection by providing indicators of natural resource protection and child health that complement the governance, social, and economic indicators.
The NRPI covers 234 countries and is calculated based on the weighted average percentage of biomes under protected status.
This dataset entails country code, natural resource protection indicator, child health indicator, improved water, and sanitation.
Each component is converted into a standardized “proximity-to-target” score (0–100), and then aggregated—biome scores weighted by area for the Natural Resource Protection Indicator (NRPI), and equal weights for the Child Health Indicator (CHI)—to provide consistent, country-level indices over time.
