To assess legal review of national laws in sub-Saharan Africa to ensure secure property rights for rural people and the urban poor.
The data contains answers to eleven questions on the treatment of citizen and community rights to five natural resources – water, trees, wildlife, minerals, and petroleum—in the national laws of 49 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
This dataset contain: private ownership of the natural resource, customary or traditional rights to the natural resource, use of the natural resource by any person without authorization from the government, land rights, method for exercising “free” natural resource use rights and conditions on the exercise of “free” natural resource use rights.
