Dataset Objective

To assist Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in country selection by providing indicators of natural resource protection and child health.

Context

The Natural Resource Protection and Child Health Indicators, 2018 Release, is produced in support of the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) as selection criteria for funding eligibility. The Natural Resource Protection Indicator (NRPI) and Child Health Indicator (CHI) are based on proximity-to-target scores ranging from 0 to 100 (at target).

What is included

This dataset contains: country name, Natural Resource Protection Indicator, water, sanitation, mortality, proximity to mortality target and child health indicator.

Collection Methods

The dataset is built by converting global data on protected areas, water, sanitation, and child mortality into 0–100 “proximity-to-target” scores, then aggregating them into composite country-level indicators for natural resource protection and child health.
