Dataset Objective

To provide data on regional drought in the Greater Horn of Africa region based on Standardized Precipitation Index.

Context

Data covers the period 1980-2001.Scope of this study is: Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

What is included

Dataset consists of: country, lake and drought events.

Collection Methods

Drought events are modelled from a globally monthly gridded precipitation dataset from Climatic Research Unit University of East Angalia and GIS modelling of global standardized precipitation index based on Brad Lyon, Columbia University.
