The projections centered around three periods (2030, 2050, and 2080) under three future scenarios (business-as-usual SSP 3 RCP 7.0, optimistic SSP 1 RCP 2.6, and pessimistic SSP 5 RCP 8.5).
Water stress, water depletion, interannual variability, groundwater table decline, riverine flood risk, coastal flood risk, drought risk, untreated connected wastewater, coastal eutrophication potential, unimproved drinking water, unimproved sanitation.
The Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas combines global hydrological modeling with sectoral water-use data to compare water demand against renewable water supply at the river-basin level. These ratios are then normalized into risk scores to map current and future water-related risks under different climate and socio-economic scenarios.
