Dataset Objective

To provide annual estimates of access to drinking water and sanitation facilities in lower middle-income countries (LMICs) for 2000-2017.

This dataset covers the period 2000-2017.

What is included

Indicators included are: improved sanitation facilities, non-piped improved sanitation facilities, open defecation, sewer and septic sanitation facilities, unimproved sanitation facilities, improved water resources, non-piped improved water resources, piped water, surface water and unimproved water resources. Percentage of people with the given type of access and number of people with the given type of access.

Collection Methods

Data is sourced from the following surveys: Demographic and Health Survey (DHS), UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) series and other country?specific surveys.
