Inter-annual variability measures the variation in water supply between years.
Global inter-annual variability is classified as: low, low to medium, high, medium to high and extremely high. Aqueduct Global Maps 2.1 indicators consist of: baseline water stress, interannual variability, seasonal variability, upstream storage, return flow ratio, upstream protected land, flood occurrence, drought severity, groundwater stress, media coverage, access to water and threatened amphibians.
