To compare the proportion of urban population with access to basic sanitation facilities on their premises in East Africa in 2017 by country.
As of 2017, the urban areas of Djibouti had the highest proportion of population with access to basic sanitation facilities in East Africa, 76 percent. In contrast, Ethiopia had the worst situation, as only 20 percent of urban residents had improved sanitation facilities. That is, eight out of ten people in the country shared a toilet with other households.
