To show boundaries and locations of national, state, and municipal totally protected areas in Mexico and voluntary conservation areas.
The data was collected as part to document all the protected areas in Mexico and for better management of protected areas.
The dataset contains the names and types of protected areas, their categories, the total area in ha, the shape length, shape area, among other parameters. An interactive map is also available bearing the same information.
The data was obtained from The La Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (CONANP) and by use of satellite imagery.
