Dataset Objective

To show the average proportion of marine key biodiversity areas covered by protected areas.

Context

It covers the period of 2000 to 2020. This dataset is part of the Global SDG Indicator database compiled through the UN System in preparation for the Secretary-General's annual report on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

What is included

This dataset contains the average proportion of marine key biodiversity areas covered by protected areas for different countries. Data also entails the sustainable development goal code, goal label, description, target code, target description, global locations, geographic area name and code, parent geographic area name, geographic area type, earliest and latest years, available years, among other attributes.

Data was collected through satellite images.
