To quantify incoming radiation from the sun, outgoing reflected shortwave and emitted longwave radiation.
Data covers the period 1979 to present. This Essential Climate Variable is the primary forcing of the climate system and is therefore a fundamental quantity to be monitored to understand the Earth’s climate and its variability.
Data consists of: incoming shortwave radiation, outgoing longwave radiation, outgoing shortwave radiation and total solar irradiance.
Data is based on satellite observations.
