To assess the average summer daytime maximum and nighttime minimum land surface temperatures (LSTs) for urban extents, and LST difference between the urban area and the buffer.
Some data gaps remain in areas where data were insufficient (e.g. Central Africa). Data is for heat/air temperature in urban centres.
This dataset entails urban id, country code, city or urban name, estimated population (1990,1995,2000), area of urban extent (sq km), daytime average maximum LST within urban extent, the difference in average daytime maximum LST between the urban area and buffer area , latitude and longitude.
