To show average monthly daytime land surface temperatures.
Yellow indicates the warmest temperatures (up to 45°C), light blue shows the coldest temperatures (down to -25°C) and black means no data is available for that area.
Dataset contains temperature of the land surface at night consisting of: bare land, snow or ice cover, urban areas, cropland and forest canopy.
Data is based on thermal infrared measurements made by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard NASA’s Terra satellite.
