To map out all global irrigated areas to aid in decision making, creating policies for food security, poverty alleviation, water resources management, and environmental conservations measures.
This dataset was collected as the first attempt to map all the globally irrigated locations.
Global locations of all irrigated areas, rainfed areas, and land use/land cover. Included also are Krishna River Basin (Central Asia) irrigated area map and South Asia irrigated area map. Other information on water sources, cropping intensity, crop types are also included in the map.
The data was collected using satellite imagery.
