Dataset
To show the salinity of water sources in Mankhanga region in Malawi.
Open wells were ignored (because the focus is on characterising borehole water), Abandoned boreholes without salinity information were ignored (because the salinity of the water they provided is unknown). Borehole and closed wells with a easured EC (Electrical Conductivity) above the WHO recommended 2000 µS /cm were considered salty. Boreholes and closed wells, including abandoned ones, without measured EC but described by the population as salty were also considered salty. A salinity border was drown at equal distance between the salty water points and the fresh water points.
Data contains the salinity of boreholes and villages accessing 100% salty water.
Data was collected using water sample quality testing and monitoring. -The data was collected by MSF and Fisherman’s Rest teams in the second half of March 2019
