To provide data on the water quantity of groundwater resources in South Africa.
It explains that the groundwater level status is determined by the difference between the maximum and minimum water levels measured in meters below ground level (mbgl) within the monitoring history of Geosites.
Dataset contains station name, percentage of stations per groundwater level category and groundwater level categorized as: very low, low, moderately low, normal, moderately high and high.
Data is obtained from monitoring stations which are maintained and operated by Department of Water and Sanitation, South Africa.
