To provide data on surface water sources capacity and the coverage of Department of Water and Sanitation dams in South Africa.
Data covers the period 2017-2022.
Dataset contains: full supply capacity in million cubic meters, reservoir name, date, water in the dam in million cubic meters, percentage full supply capacity of the previous year, percentage full supply capacity of the previous week, national surface water storage, settlements and the communities supplied by Department of Water and Sanitation dams.
Data is based on sample survey, hydrographic surveys and monitoring from: Dam Safety Office extract capacity tables and as built surveys of the dams, Hydraulic laboratory services extract surveys of models and test results, educational institution, consultants and Spatial and Land Information Management (S&LIM).
