Adaptation to climate change includes addressing sea level rise and increased storm surges in many coastal areas. Mangroves can substantially reduce the vulnerability of the adjacent coastal land from inundation and erosion. However, climate change poses a large threat to mangroves.
Data contains mangrove area in km2, mangroves location, storm surge area without mangroves, storm surge area with mangroves, change due to mangroves, mangrove area at risk, storm surge area due to sea-level rise and storm intensification, area exposed to storm surges, percentage of storm surge area at risk due to the expected loss of mangroves and population exposed.
