Dataset Objective

To provide data on total wetlands area in square kilometers across different countries.

Context

This dataset covers the period of 2017. This dataset is part of the Global SDG Indicator database compiled through the UN System in preparation for the Secretary-General's annual report on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

What is included

This dataset contains the global locations, geographic area name and code, parent geographic area name, geographic area type, earliest and latest years, available years, and estimated wetlands area covered in square kilometers for different regions.

Collection Methods

Data was collected using satellite images and monitoring.
