To provide data on municipal water consumption for Cape Town, South Africa.
The City of Cape Town Water Map was developed as part of Cape Town’s water conservation and demand management initiatives, particularly during and after the 2017–2018 water crisis (often referred to as “Day Zero”), when the city faced the prospect of running out of municipal water.
Dataset consists of: household water use, treated effluent collection points and water zones.
Monitoring data obtained from the City of Cape Town municipal billing system.
