Dataset
To provide information on rural and small-town water supply facilities and service performance in the Northern Region of Ghana to support water service planning, monitoring, and management.
The Northern Region page is part of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) Water Atlas, an online platform that disseminates information from Ghana's rural water service monitoring programme. The data presented are derived from the 2014 service monitoring exercise conducted by CWSA in collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) using nationally established service monitoring indicators
The platform provides regional and district-level information on rural and small-town water services in the Northern Region, including district fact sheets, thematic maps, and datasets on handpumps, piped water schemes, facility functionality, management arrangements, and service authority performance. Data are available at multiple administrative levels, including communities and area councils, and are accompanied by interactive maps illustrating service levels and infrastructure distribution.
Data are compiled from monitoring activities conducted across participating regions and aggregated into the online atlas to support benchmarking, policy development, programming, investment planning, and evidence-based decision-making in the water sector.
