Dataset
To provide information on rural and small-town water supply facilities and service performance in the Upper West Region of Ghana to support monitoring, planning, policy development, and investment decisions in the water sector.
The Upper West Region page is part of the CWSA Online Water Atlas, a joint initiative led by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) with support from IRC, Akvo, the World Bank, and SkyFox. The atlas was developed to improve the reliability and accessibility of monitoring information on rural and small-town water services in Ghana and to establish baseline data on water facility functionality and service levels.
The platform provides regional information on rural water services in the Upper West Region, including district fact sheets and data reports on handpump data by area council and community, piped scheme management data, and service authority data. The atlas also includes thematic maps on piped scheme functionality, handpump types, handpump functionality, piped scheme management, and service levels of handpumps. In addition, links to raw datasets on handpumps, piped schemes, handpump management, piped scheme management, and service authorities are provided; however, access to these raw datasets is restricted and requires login credentials or a password.
Data are compiled from monitoring activities conducted across participating regions and aggregated into the online atlas to support benchmarking, policy development, programming, investment planning, and evidence-based decision-making in the water sector.
