Dataset
To provide information on rural and small-town water supply facilities and service performance in the Western Region of Ghana to support planning, monitoring, and management of water services.
The Western Region page is part of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) Water Atlas, an online platform developed to disseminate information from Ghana's rural water service monitoring programme. The atlas presents the results of service monitoring exercises conducted by CWSA in collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to assess water service delivery against national indicators.
The platform provides regional and district-level information on rural and small-town water services, including fact sheets, maps, reports, and datasets on water infrastructure and service delivery. Available information includes data on handpumps and piped water schemes, functionality status, management arrangements, service authority performance, community-level service indicators, and thematic maps illustrating water facility distribution and performance across the Western Region.
The data were generated through the 2014 service monitoring round implemented by CWSA and MMDAs using the indicators established in CWSA's Framework for Assessing and Monitoring Rural and Small Towns Water Supply Services in Ghana. Information was collected and compiled from community, district, and regional monitoring activities to evaluate the status and performance of rural water services.
