To provide standardized operational ward boundaries for Nigeria to support development planning, humanitarian operations, public health interventions, resource allocation, and spatial analysis.
The dataset provides country-wide operational ward boundaries representing Nigeria's administrative level 3 units and was released in March 2021. It was produced through collaboration among GRID3 partners, including eHealth Africa and Proxy Logics.
The dataset contains polygon boundaries for Nigeria's operational wards and associated attribute information. Available attributes include unique identifiers, ward names and codes (wardname, wardcode), Local Government Area (LGA) names and codes (lganame, lgacode), state names and codes (statename, statecode), timestamps, editors, and global identifiers. The dataset consists of 9,410 records representing operational ward units across the country and is available as a feature layer for visualization and analysis.
The GRID3 Nigeria Operational Wards v1.0 dataset was developed under the Geo-Referenced Infrastructure and Demographic Data for Development (GRID3) initiative, a collaborative programme that develops geospatial data solutions to support evidence-based decision-making.
