Dataset
The objective of this research is to delineate settlement extents in Djibouti and provide associated building density classifications and population estimates derived from satellite imagery and high-resolution population datasets.
The research addresses the need for accurate and detailed spatial data on settlement extents in Djibouti, which is crucial for various applications such as urban planning, infrastructure development, and demographic analysis. Understanding the distribution and characteristics of settlements is essential for effective development planning and resource allocation.
The GRID3 DJI - Settlement Extents v3.0 consists of a geographic representation of settlements in Djibouti, in two forms: 1) settlement polygons, and 2) spatial points depicting the centroids of settled grid cells at 3-arc seconds (or ~100 meters) contained within settlement polygons. Both layers include attributes as described in the codebooks. Data inputs and methodology are described in data release notes.
