The UNICEF WASH SDG Costing Tool is a spreadsheet-based tool developed by UNICEF to help countries estimate the investments needed to meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets related to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), calculate financing gaps, and inform financial planning for SDG 6
The main difference between the updated tool and the previous version is that now countries have the option of selecting the baseline year - i.e. after 2015. This allows more realistic annual values to be estimated to reach the national targets.
The Tool comprises a spreadsheet with type of service, technologies, capital cost, maintenance cost, operational cost, and household use of technology. This is accompanied by easy-to-use guidelines available for download in PDF.
