To provide georeferenced information on water points in Sibi, Ghana, to support water resource planning, service delivery, infrastructure monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making.
The dataset was produced through the YouthMappers initiative and is hosted on the Water Point Data Exchange (WPdx) platform. YouthMappers is a global network of university-led chapters that engage students and communities in participatory mapping activities to improve the availability of open geospatial data. The dataset contributes to local water sector knowledge by documenting water point locations and characteristics within Sibi, Ghana.
The dataset contains georeferenced water point records and associated attributes for Sibi, Ghana. Available information includes unique identifiers, record timestamps, geographic coordinates, elevation and orthometric height, water point type, current status or functionality information, photographs of water points, and information on seasonal availability
The dataset was generated through participatory mapping and field data collection activities conducted under the YouthMappers initiative in 2021. Water point information was collected in the field using mobile geospatial data collection tools and standardized water point data practices. Geographic coordinates, infrastructure characteristics, photographs, and observational information were recorded and subsequently published through the Water Point Data Exchange (WPdx) platform to improve accessibility and interoperability with other water point datasets.
