To provide information on boreholes, wells, and handpumps within the Vea Catchment in Ghana to support understanding of local water infrastructure, water availability, and the condition and use of rural water sources.
This dataset is part of a broader effort to assess and document the water infrastructure in the Vea Catchment area, located in the Upper East region of Ghana. Its primary audience is researchers, policymakers, and local authorities interested in water availability, infrastructure management, and community water usage in this region.
The dataset contains an inventory of boreholes, wells, and handpumps recorded in October 2015. It includes a list of water infrastructure locations and associated information on water availability and infrastructure condition. Additionally, the dataset contains qualitative interview data, explanatory documentation describing the dataset structure, and questionnaire information used during data collection.
The dataset was compiled through field surveys and direct observation conducted by the author, who mapped and documented water infrastructure within the study area. Information on water source usage and condition was supplemented through qualitative interviews with local stakeholders and water users. The author notes that the dataset is not exhaustive and should be considered a partial inventory intended to provide an indicative overview of water infrastructure conditions within the Vea Catchment.
