Dataset Objective

To provide data on the proportion of the population using on-site sanitation facilities with human waste disposed of in situ

Context

The proportion of people whose sanitation system is on-site (e.g., pit latrine, septic tank) and whose excreta remain contained and managed at the same location, rather than being transported elsewhere.

A downloadable CSV file describing the; geographic area, residence type, time period, data source, unit of measurement, and values

Collection Methods

The indicator data draw on inter-agency estimates and nationally representative household surveys such as Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) and Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS).
