Dataset Objective

To map Belize's forest area/cover.

Context

Dataset was collected as part to support the Land Information Center and the Forest Department of Belize's Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.

What is included

Data contain locations of forests, deforested areas and non-forests areas, field IDs, the area covered in acres and hectares for 1980, 1989, 1994, 2000, 2004, and 2010.

Collection Methods

This dataset was collected through satellite imagery from the Thematic Mapper (TM), Enhanced Thematic Mapper+ (ETM+) and Multispectral Scanner (MSS) sensors on NASA's Landsat-3, Landsat-5, and Landsat-7 satellites
