Dataset
To provide data on the opinions regarding home composting from a survey and an experiment. The study also aimed to investigate the role and effectiveness of biodegradable and compostable packaging in the UK.
The survey comprised questions about opinions and behaviours towards biodegradable and compostable plastics, food waste and composting behaviours. The home composting experiment comprised self-selecting compostable materials and testing them in participant home composters
The data includes opinions and behaviours towards biodegradable and compostable plastics, food waste disposal, home composting methods, geographical location, and observed disintegration and degradation performance of compostable plastics in a home compost. Two CSVs are included: one for survey responses (opinion and behavior responses); one for items frequently composted, with disintegration and degradation characteristics.
The data was collected through qualitative and numerical survey data from UK citizens about their opinions and behaviours towards biodegradable and compostable plastics, food waste disposal and home composting, and Qualitative and numerical data from home composting experiments carried out on biodegradable and compostable plastic materials.
