To provide data on the current status and level of WASH service for households in the camp
Maratane Refugee Camp is located approximately 35 kms from the capital city Nampula in Northern Mozambique, Nampula Province. The camp was established in February 2001, and since 2003, it has become the only reception center and official settlement in Mozambique, where asylum seekers and refugees can be registered and assisted.
The data includes; the number of individuals with bathing facilities, practice open defecation, the distance to water points, availability of enough water, latrine conditions, availability of soaps, diarrhea prevention knowledge, menstrual health and hygiene
A sample survey data from all approximately 2,942 households from Maratane's 5 camp zones. 365 households were randomly selected for the survey. The UNHCR standard WASH Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) survey was pre-tested and adapted to local context.
