To visualize the global spatial distribution of likely or potential Critical Habitat.
Datasets were selected if they met three key criteria: (I) direct relevance to one or more IFC PS6 Critical Habitat criteria/ scenarios, (ii) global extent, and (iii) the best available data of those identified for the purposes of the approach.
This dataset entails habitat of significance, internationally and nationally recognized areas, unique ecosystems, protected areas, likely critical habitat, potential critical habitat and and unclassified habitats.
Observed occurrence (e.g. sea turtle nesting sites, warm-water coral reefs), modelled occurrence (seamounts), and biodiversity governance designations(internationally or nationally recognized protected areas).
