To provide monitoring data on handpump water abstraction volumes in Kwale County, Kenya to support rural water supply monitoring, groundwater research, and water infrastructure management.
The dataset was developed as part of the UPGro (Unlocking the Potential of Groundwater for the Poor) project, which aimed to improve understanding of groundwater and rural water systems across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The dataset includes weekly volumetric water output data from handpumps monitored in 2014 and 2015 using Smart Handpump sensors, along with geolocation information for 299 handpumps in Kwale County, Kenya. The package contains three datasets: handpump location data and weekly monitoring data for 2014 and 2015.
The data were collected using Smart Handpump sensor technology that remotely monitored weekly water abstraction volumes from rural handpumps in Kwale County.
