Dataset
To provide groundwater quality and geospatial data for research and planning of water and solid waste management in Kwale County, Kenya.
The data is collected as part of the project UPGro (Unlocking the Potential of Groundwater for the Poor), which aimed to improve the evidence and understanding of groundwater across Sub-Saharan Africa to help tackle poverty.
It contains geospatial coordinates, geological information, field measurements (e.g., conductivity, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity), major ions, nutrients, stable isotopes, and trace element concentrations for 157 samples from 71 locations, alongside a secondary dataset of repeated groundwater measurements collected over three consecutive weeks at 8 locations
The data were collected through groundwater sampling campaigns conducted in Kwale County, Kenya in 2016 as part of the Gro for GooD project. In total, 157 samples were taken in 71 different localisations that have their geospatial data included in this data package.
