Dataset
To provide sanitation data on Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities in Ghana to support Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) implementation, sanitation monitoring, and public health planning
The dataset was developed within the Basic Sanitation Information System (BaSIS) initiative to support Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) efforts in Ghana aimed at reducing open defecation and improving community sanitation practices. The project focuses on community-driven sanitation improvement approaches across multiple regions of Ghana
The dataset includes information on 1,618 Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities across Ghana, including region, district, area council, community name, implementing CLTS partner, population size, number of households, toilets, and handwashing facilities. It also includes a secondary dataset containing district-level population statistics for Ghana
The data were compiled through sanitation monitoring and Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) implementation activities conducted across communities in Ghana. Community-level sanitation information and population statistics were aggregated into structured sanitation datasets
